| OTAP gives
low-income Oregonians a reduction in their monthly bill for local
residential telephone service. The Link-Up America program will pay for one-half of the line connection fo the hook-up charges for new residential telephone service. Individuals who receive food stamps, Oregon Health Plan insurance,or SSI are usually eligible for these programs. Telecommunication Devices Access Program (TDAP) provides special telecommunication devices to Oregonians who are deaf, hearing- and/or speech-impaired, or who have other physical disabilities that prevent them from using a telephone. TTY (text telephone), visual signal, large visual display, telebraille, remote-controlled speaker phone and voice-activated cellular phone are examples of available equipment.
