Dental Care

Dental care is often a concern for people with developmental disabilities. Side effects of some medications lead to poor dental health condition. Dental hygiene may be physically more difficult to carry out for some individuals with disabilities. Poor dental health is now linked with other medical conditions such as heart disease.

Oregon Donated Dental Services is a resource for people who do not have dental insurance. Donated Dental Services is a nonprofit organization that arranges for dental services at no cost for eligible individuals. Donated Dental Services refers individuals to a volunteer dentist as close to your area as possible. Applications for Donated Dental Services are available on their web site or by calling the Coordinator, Joe Keenan, at 503-774-3898 or 800-767-6334.

Your DD Service Coordinator or Personal Agent can help you to make the application.
Oregon Donated Dental Services can also provide in-service training for residential staff and parents of adult children to help improve oral hygiene and to follow up with routine dental care.
